The Nature of Contingency draws on quantum theory and contemporary metaphysics to posit that worlds are best understood as telling us about the space of possibilities rather than telling us about actuality.
“What can you do?”, a phrase disabled people hear frequently – from apathetic and dismissive doctors, hostile government staff, and casually throughout our ableist society. In this exhibition, artist Megan Baker critiques this attitude through humorous text-based work in clear bold textiles.
Goolugatup Heathcote Gallery presents an annual program of contemporary art exhibitions across three gallery spaces. It also hosts an art prize each year, alternatively the Digital Art Prize and the Melville Contemporary Prize. Late each year, it presents a major exhibition as part of Tilt – a significant site-responsive commission.
Goolugatup Heathcote Gallery is now seeking applications for its 2023 exhibitions program. Applications are open to solo artists, artist groups, curators, touring shows and institutions. We present both emerging and established artists. Artist fees are awarded to exhibitors.
Applications can be submitted by an online form. The form involves a project description and linking to CV and images. All applications are assessed by a selection panel against specified criteria. Spaces are limited, and selection is competitive.
